President Buhari extends return to Nigeria to complete medical tests

Nigeria’s President Muhammadu Buhari has informed the National Assembly on Sunday that he is extending his leave in Britain to complete his medical tests.

A statement from the presidency did not state when he will return to the country.

“President Muhammadu Buhari has written to the National Assembly today, February 5, 2017, informing of his desire to extend his leave in order to complete and receive the results of a series of tests recommended by his doctors.

“The President had planned to return to Abuja this evening, but was advised to complete the test cycle before returning. The notice has since been dispatched to the Senate President, and Speaker, House of Representatives,” the statement said.

74-year-old President Buhari left Nigeria to Britain last month on a 10-day leave for medical checkup and was expected to return on Monday, February 6.

This is the second time the president has flown to London for medical check-up after he received treatment in June 2016 for an ear infection.
