Trial of Teodorin Obiang begins in Paris [The Morning Call]

Equatorial Guinea’s vice president Teodoro Obiang is on trial in absentia in France for looting his impoverished country millions of euros and purchasing luxurious property abroad. The 47-year old’s trial has been described as part of the French government’s attempt to maintain its influence within its former colonies and africa at large. Teodorin who has previously failed legal efforts to stop the trial, is not expected to attend or serve any sentence if he is convicted.
