DRC sign deal, but is it sustainable [The Morning Call]

A last minute deal reached upon by the government and opposition parties in the Democratic Republic of Congo will ensure incumbent president Joseph Kabila will not run for a third term and a peaceful transition of power is achieved after the election scheduled for December this year. Kabila’s second term that was to end on December 19 sparked demonstrations amidst a national dialogue led by the episcopal conference that has lasted for months and brutal force from security authorities blamed for the death and detention of scores of protesters in the capital Kinshasa.
