Algeria: Protests after death of journalist [The Morning Call]

Mohamed Tamalt, the British-Algerian freelance journalist who died in detention in Algeria was laid to rest on Monday. He died on Sunday after staging a hunger strike to protest against his two year sentence for publishing articles considered as offensive to President Abdelaziz Bouteflika.

Following his death, Amnesty International has asked Algerian authorities to launch an independent, in-depth and transparent inquiry into his death.
