[Update] Nigeria: Twin suicide bombers kill 9 people in Maiduguri

Update

Nigeria’s army have confirmed that the two suicide bombers who carried out Saturday morning’s attack in Borno State capital, Maiduguri, were females.

Army spokesman Colonel Sani Usman after the first bomber detonated her bomb, the second tailed a fuel tanker that was about to discharge fuel at a station. She was in a local tricycle popularly called “keke.”

He said, “miraculously, a car came in between them (the “keke” and the fuel tanker). The bomber, whether by error or whatever detonated, killing all the three occupants of the tricycle. There was no other person involved.”

The bombings came 17 days after a car bomb that killed 10 people when a convoy was hit in the outskirt of the city. The explosion at Muna garage hit the convoy with a military escort as it made its way to Gamboru Ngala.
