Tunisia: Factions brainstorm on how to solve the Libyan 'equation'

Solutions for the Libyan crisis are being sought during a conference in Tunis. On the table to discuss the way forward is the Special representative of the United Nations to Libya Martin Kobler , representative of the unity government and the rival government from the east led by General Khalifa Haftar.

“The main challenge I had is the formation of the government of national unity and its subsequent endorsement by the authorities,” Special representative of the UN to Libya, Martin Kobler said.

The consultations are focused on finding political, economic and security solutions to the ongoing Libyan crisis.

A more specific goal will be a unified Libyan army and for the dream of Libyan unity to become a reality both parties in the ongoing meeting must agree.

“I think that two people in the eastern faction are represented this time around in the talks which is good. We talked about the crisis in parliament and how to form a credible government,” the vice president of Tobruk parliament, Mohamed Chouaib said.

Oil rich Libya was plunged into chaos following a revolt that ended the regime of Muammar Gaddaffi in 2011.
