Iraq mourns deadly bomb blast victims

Iraq has announced three days of national mourning after a car bombing killed at least 120 people wounding 180 others in Iraq’s capital Baghdad.

The Islamic State militant group claimed responsibility for the attack.

Iraqi prime mister Haider Al-Abadi visited the scene of the tragedy where he promised to punish the perpetrators of the crime.

The UN envoy to Iraq Jan Kubish condemned the heinous act.

The bomb exploded on Saturday evening in a busy shopping district where families were shopping for the holiday marking the end Ramadan.

The attack happened few days after ISIS lost its Fallujah stronghold, and comes at a time when there has been increased criticism over the government’s security measures which people say are not enough.

Responding to these criticisms, the Iraqi prime minister announced that new security measures measures will be adopted to better tackle terrorism.
