South Africa's Semenya and Kenya's Kiprop impress in Doha

South African Caster Semenya produced a stunning performance in the 2016 IAAF Diamond League race in Doha, Qatar.

Semenya claimed victory in the 800 metres women’s run in 1 minute 58.26 seconds joining the winners setting world leading times on Friday.

She defeated Ethiopia’s Alemu Habita, who came in second place followed by Kenya’s Eunice Jepkoech Sum who was third.

Semenya’s victory was the first Diamond League success since 2011.

The other big winner of the night was Kenyan Asbel Kiprop who comfortably clinched victory in the men’s 1,500 metres race.

Kiprop, a three time Olympic gold medalist set an impressive time of 3 minutes 32.15 seconds. He was followed by his fellow country men Elijah Manangoi and Silas Kiplagat in second and third place respectively.

Another track highlight was American Tori Bowie who finished the 100 metres race in world leading 10.80 seconds. Second place was Dafne Schippers of the Netherlands clocking 10.83 seconds while Jamaican, Veronica Campbell-Brown settled in third place at 10.91 seconds.

The Diamond League moves onto Shanghai next weekend.
