Obama guest 'Grandma Virginia' Turns 107

Virginia McLaurin turned 107 on Saturday.

Grandma Virginia, as she is affectionately, had her dream come true, as she celebrated her pre-107th birthday with the Obamas at the White House on February 22.

Virginia’s White House dance party last month came a year after a petition was launched to help get her an invite.

She posted a video on YouTube telling Obama how much she’d love to meet him and his family and her dream finally came true.

“I thought I would never live to get in the White House,” she said to the Obamas. “I am so happy? A black president, a black wife… and I’m here to celebrate black history.”

Her video, released by the White House last month, had gone viral.

The then 106-year-old Virginia McLaurin was dancing with the Obamas at the White House during a Black History Month event.

McLaurin said she had long-dreamed of visiting the White House.

Bob’s Discount Furniture gave the elderly brand new furniture as a gift for her birthday. She said all she needs now is a house or apartment to put it in.
