Turkish president Recep Tayyip Erdoğan arrived in Guinea on Thursday, the last stop of his West African tour. Erdogan arrived with a delegation of several businessmen and entrepreneurs, who participated in economic fora and won contracts.

“Turkey believes that Africa as a continent, and Guinea as a country, will be the most important partners for years to come. And for Turkey, the partnership with African countries, including Guinea, is very important. It’s very important for us also to promote our brands outside of Turkey,” said Turkish businessman, Omer Tavilogud.
The contracts are in the areas of security and defense, health, and energy. The Guinean government welcomed the signing of these agreements with the hope that they will help boost the economy.
“That’s what the state can do. Help its private economic sector. Before, it was us who would go to get them. If the state is going to fight for them to come to us, I think this is a good opportunity for Guinea,” said Cassus Dioubate, a Guinean businessman.

Erdoğan arrived in Guinea after visiting the Ivory Coast, Nigeria and Ghana, a tour initiated to deepen ties between Turkey and the Economic Community of Western African States (ECOWAS) and beyond its strategic partnership with Africa.
