Burundi marks Unity Day memorial

Burundi is celebrating its Unity Day today amidst crisis that bears similarities to the Rwandan genocide of 1994.

Over 400 people have been killed and 240 000 displaced so far.

The African Union has been called upon to act.

Last week, it decided against intervening in Burundi, opting rather to send further diplomats, a stark contradiction to the AU’s summit last week.
