35 top Italian soccer clubs under probe over alleged tax fraud

Italian finance police has seized assets worth 12 million euros as part of an investigation into alleged large-scale tax evasion involving 35 Italian soccer clubs, judicial sources said on Tuesday.

Lazio and Napoli Presidents Claudio Lotito and Aurelio De Laurentiis, Milan vice-President Adriano Galliani, PSG winger Ezequiel Lavezzi and Modena Coach Hernan Crespo were named among the 64 people being probed.

Dubbed operation “Offside”, the scam affects a total of 35 clubs, a statement of the prosecutor of the city of Naples.

Milan and Napoli declined to comment., and a spokesman for Lazio said he was not aware of any ongoing probe.
