The Human Rights Watch reports more than 100 people have been killed during the recent wave of protests by Oromos in Ethiopia.
Over 100 protesters in Ethiopia killed by security forces
According to Ethiopian activists, security forces in the region have killed at least 140 protesters and injured many more.
Oromia, Ethiopia’s largest region has been hit by a wave of mass protests over the expansion of the municipal boundary of the capital, Addis Ababa.
The Human Rights Watch reports that, Bekele Gerba, deputy chairman of the Oromo Federalist Congress (OFC) was arrested by authorities.
The OFC is Oromia’s largest legally registered political party and the looming crisis might be the biggest to hit Ethiopia since the 2005 election violence.
