Final group games in Group B of the ongoing Championship of African Nations (CHAN) ended yesterday. Zambia drew one – all with Namibia in a game that was to determine who topped the group.
The two teams that had already qualified – but Zambia topped thanks to superior goal difference. The Zambians scored six goals in the three games as against Namibia’s three – a goal per match.
Namibia took the lead through Absalom Iimbondi on 13 minutes but Zambia secured an equalizer with a Lazarous Kambole strike on the 24th minute mark. In the other group fixture, Uganda and Ivory Coast played out a goalless game and will both be headed home.

The first round of quarter-final fixtures are now set. Hosts Morocco will face Namibia on Saturday, whiles Sudan and Zambia will engage in the other fixture – same day.
In matches slated for today, Equatorial Guinea come up against Nigeria in Agadir whiles Rwanda and Libya slug in out in Tangier. Nigeria, Libya and Rwanda all have chances of making the next round. Equatorial Guinea are effectively out.
