We begin with South Africa where the country’s deputy president Cyril Ramaphosa was elected leader of South Africa’s ruling African National Congress on Monday after what could be considered the
most divisive vote in the party’s history. After hours of tension at the ANC’s 54th congress Mr Ramaphosa, the deputy president, narrowly defeated Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma, Mr Zuma’s former wife, after
a recount of votes. President Zuma had backed Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma,his former wife, Mr Ramaphosa beat her by 2,440 votes to 2,261. So who really is Cyril Ramaphosa and how did he secure the
victory to become the ANC’s next leader?
