CHAN 2018: Kenya loses hosting rights

Whether Kenya would host the CHAN 2018 tournament had been subject to a lot of speculation over the last weeks. But now it’s officially confirmed that the country will not be hosting the event, after a CAF executive committee meeting in Accra stripped them of the rights.

Slow preparations for the January 12 – February 4 tournament led to a decision, after a CAF inspection team that had visited the country two weeks ago reported that only one of the 4 venues were ready.

Some CAF officials in Accra also expressed concern about the political situation in Kenya, where recently annulled presidential elections are set to be rerun late October.

Aubameyang hat-trick crushes Gladbach

2015 African Footballer of the Year Pierre Emerick Aubameyang was on a roll over the weekend as his hat-trick helped his side Borussia Dortmund thrash Borussia Mönchengladbach 6-1 at the Signal Iduna Park, to go two points clear in the Bundesliga. That was in some fashion a brilliant warmed up for Real Madrid’s midweek visit in the Champions league.

Manchester United fans have continued to chant the Romelu Lukaku song despite being urged by the player not to do so.
