This week’s football planet dwelt on various football news updates across Africa and the globe. Here are the briefs from the show.

SOWETO STAMPEDE

An epic rivalry in South Africa during a derby match between the Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates. In deed it was a match drawing lots of supporters from both sides. But sadly a stampede occured claiming two football fans while several others injured during the scuffles as they tried to push their way out of the stadium. Police in Johannesburg have launched investigations to the incident.

CHAN 2018

Now back to CHAN 2018, an uproar by the Togolese football federation following their match against Benin. Togo claims decision made during their matches that lead to them loosing to Benin were not right. In one of their complaints, Togo claim they were denied penalty during their last match in Lome. We are joined by Beninese Journalist Bienvenu Azoma who will actually give us his point of view concerning the match.

ZAMALEK COACH FIRED

Portuguese coach Augusto Inacio has been sacked by Egyptian giants Zamalek after less than four months in charge of the side.

Pressure had been mounting on Inacio after the Cairo club missed out on the semi-finals of this season’s African Champions League.

In other news Morocco won on Sunday in the Francophonie football tournament against the host country, Ivory Coast. Morocco won on penalties after the game ended with a 1-1 with 7 penalties against 6 by Ivory Coast

NEYMAR LINKED TO PSG

Perhaps we are now heading toward having Neymar at the Paris Saint-Germain. Several European media reported of Neymar’s departure. But, the Spanish League football has threatened to lodge a complaint against the Paris Saint-Germain before UEFA over thee transfer for non-compliance with the fair-play financial. It is an open secret, the Paris Saint-Germain must pay 222 million euros if they want to aquire Neymar. In the meantime, his teammates in the Barcelona are still trying to convince the Brazilian star to stay, which is obviously not the case in Paris.

FRANCE: DANI ALVES DEBUT

Daniel Alves, new recruit to the PSG already played well for the Paris club, He directly contributed the PSG win against Monaco when they played in Tangie, Morocco on Saturday.The Brazilian defender scored and later gave a decisive pass that lead to victory to the PSG by 2 goals to 1.

U.S.A TRIUMPH

The United States on Wednesday won the tournament Wednesday against Jamaica. Final Victory 2 goals to 1 thanks in particular to this superb free kick Altidore Jozy for the opening the score. Watson then equalize for the Reggae Boys. But, Jordan Morris countered the Jamaicans further setting them out of the game’s victory.

###AFRICA: WOMEN VERSUS FOOTBALL’###

At the moment Euro women’s football is ongoing in the Netherlands Denmark and Australia. This are the fixtures of the semi-final, next Thursday. Which brings us to talk about our focus on female footballers in Africa. Intense passion, but from the extensive issues that include lack of means, despair, the African footballers must do with the realities that surround their profession. We visited the Democratic Republic of the Congo to figure out what are some of these issues facing women pertaining football, the country is far from being an exception.
