The Morning Call
A few weeks ago in this segment we aired a report celebrating the 12th Man in football, the football fans. In this episode Victor Muisyo takes a further look into the fanatic culture in football, with the main focus on the Ultras movements in North Africa.
Ultras are what set North African football leagues apart from the rest of the continent. Majority of ‘organised’ ultras in the continent are found mostly in North Africa. In sub-Saharan, supporters tend to be far less organised, owing to the fact that most leagues there are less developed and their support for European leagues is far more prevalent.
The report explores who, in a sense, are the ultras amongst the Ultras in Northern Africa.
