Democratic Republic Of Congo
The next presidential elections in the Democratic Republic of the Congo is an urgent priority for the country, the new Prime Minister Bruno Tshibala has said.
On Tuesday, the new Prime Minister held consultations for the formation of a new government.
He has promised to mobilise resources for the organisation of the election that is scheduled before the end of the year.
“We see no disadvantage to this that there is a booster that would come from our partners, but we will make every effort to mobilize domestic financial resources to fund the elections. The election has become the top priority for my government,” DRC Prime Minister, Bruno Tshibala said.
According to Joseph Olé one of the critical leaders of the opposition coalition, the most pressing aspect now is to console the population after months of crisis.
“Before the formation of the government, we are talking about the elections, we talked about the social, although there are recommendations, including the priority to meet the needs of our people, particularly in the social and security aspects,” opposition dissident, Joseph Olenghakoy said.
Last week during an address to the nation, President Kabila promised that the elections would take place and denied reports of foreign interference in the process.
