Egypt
Argentine superstar Lionel Messi postponed a visit to Egypt to promote a campaign to fight Hepatitis C in the wake of Barcelona’s 4-0 defeat by Paris Saint-Germain.
Egypt’s tourism ministry said on Wednesday that Messi did not give them any reasons for the postponement, but an official from the ministry said it was making arrangements to organize the visit as quickly as possible.
This will now be Messi’s second postponement as he was due to visit Cairo in December but cancelled following a suicide attack against a church in Cairo that left 29 dead.
The campaign was for a medical tourism initiative ‘Tour n’ Cure’, which offers treatment packages to hepatitis C patients from all over the world.
Dani Alves was the first footballer to become ambassador of the brand followed by Egyptian football manager Mido.
