The Morning Call

Lire à Douala or Read in Douala is set to kick off this week from the 7th to 10th of this month in Douala. It is an annual event that mainly focuses on literature in Cameroon. The aim of this year’s event is to bring together young and old people around their words and expressions, question one another on their relationship with books and to encourage reflection and creativity.

Still in Cameroon, Julie Frankline Cheugue, Miss Cameroon 2016 was recently stripped of her title for speaking her mind concerning the recent protests in the Anglophone regions. Nigerian artist 2Baba recently called on Nigerians to join him in a nationwide protest against what he described as the unfavourable policies implemented by President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration which have worsened the Nigerian economy. Just hours before the protests, the renowned singer decided to cancel the minute.
