The Morning Call
It is often difficult for African passport holders to travel to diverse regions in the world including within Africa.
One of the many reasons the African Union is proposing visa-free travel requirements within Africa..
Benin, Ghana and Rwanda have discarded visa requirements for other Africans.
In the midst of these travel difficulties, Seychelles, Mauritius, and South Africa’s citizens have the most favored passports on the continent in terms of free travel movement, according to the latest ranking from the financial firm Arton Capital.
Nigerians, Ethiopians and Somalians have the least freedom of travel.
At the top is Seychelles, whose nationals can visit 96 countries visa-free and also visit 30 other countries with visa on arrival.
Countries they could visit include China, France, the United Kingdom. Some of them are visa-free, with a visa on arrival, or getting an electronic travel authorization.
Seychelles is visa free for anyone, regardless of their nationality. Travelers are given a visitor’s permit on arrival.
This openness had an impact on the freedom of travel for its citizens too as visa rules are often reciprocal.
