Of Racism in football, witchcraft in the Rwandan league and more [The Morning Call]

Other sports

It’s 2017, and racism in football is still an issue. We are still talking about black and white skin. Overt racist episodes in the sport may be on the decline, but instances of racist statements and gestures are commonplace in Europe.

But there’s hope for justice to victims of racism, after a French court found some four Chelsea fans guilty of racist violence in the Paris metro before a Champions League match in February 2015, pitting the Blues and Paris Saint Germain. Victor Muisyo shares more on that.

He also gives a quick preview on the AFCON 2017 which is fast approaching.

Again…there’s match-fixing, and then there’s witchcraft. Victor also takes us through some interesting reports that apparently some Rwandan clubs are turning to superstitions and primitive sciences to influence results, after news came in that the Rwanda Football Federation (FERWAFA) is taking steps to put an end to what some believe is witchcraft working its way into soccer matches.
