On Monday, Mali said it will not help the EU help identify and return illegal Malian migrants to the country. At the start of the month, the EU and Mali reported they had signed a deal to facilitate the return of migrants who had arrived in Europe but subsequently had their asylum requests rejected by the union. Mali is denying the existence or arriving at such an agreement. Mali’s foreign minister Abdoulaye Diop gave the statement quote on quote, “at no point was there any question of signing an agreement that would allow the expulsion of countrymen (living) in Europe illegally.”…
