The death toll of policemen in the Kasese district, west of Uganda is steadily rising
Fourteen policeman and 41 militants were killed during fighting between the police anf Royal Guard of the Town of Rwenzuzu.
A joint patrol of the Ugandan police and army was traveling in Kasese, 300 km west of Kampala, near the border with the Democratic Republic of Congo, when it was attacked by members of the Royal Guard. police spokesman Andrew Felix Kaweesi said.
The fighting began when the attacker launched an artisanal grenade that injured a soldier. The patrol fired back and killed four assailants, a fight which provoked an even bigger one betwee n the fighting parties.

“The incident then degenerated and provoked in several quarters of the fighting which lasted until the evening”, explained the spokesman .
Though isolated, there has been reports of killing of police in that area for reasons unknown to Africanews.
