A senior Kenyan sports official was arrested in connection to a corruption scandal that saw Kenyan officials embezzle funds meant for use by Team Kenya, at the Rio Olympics games held in August.
Ben Ekumbo was arrested by detectives at his apartment in an upmarket neighbourhood in Nairobi, after the officers found boxes containing shoes and unused uniforms meant to be given to athletes competing at the games.

Ekumbo, the vice -president of Kenya Olympics Committee was arraigned in court on Tuesday, over charges of stealing and handling stolen property.
He becomes the fifth official to be arrested as part of an investigation that implicates high ranking Kenyan officials who stole more than $8 million in athletes’ expenses and equipment at the games.
