US elections: New poll shows tight race ahead of November 8

USA

With just days to go for the presidential elections in the United States of America, the Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump is basking in the glory of new poll results that show him closing the gap between him and his Democratic rival.

Hillary Clinton now holds a slim lead over Donald Trump in a new national poll released on Sunday.

An ABC News/Washington Post tracking poll released on Sunday put Clinton ahead 46% to 45%, narrowing the 2-point edge Clinton had on Saturday.

Addressing a rally in Nevada, Trump told his supporters: “We’re doing great in the polls. We’re winning many national polls, and we’re ahead in many states, including your great state (Nevada) and North Carolina, and Ohio, and Florida, and Iowa and so many others.”

Trump who has attacked Hillary Clinton over her email scandal since the start of the campaign, spared no time gloating over the FBI’s announcement on Friday that it may review additional emails tied to the investigation of Clinton’s use of a private server during her time as Secretary of State.

“They just found a lot of them. We never thought we were going to say thank you to Anthony Weiner,” Trump said.

He remained confident of victory on November 8 saying he will rid Washington of corruption when he wins.

“I want the entire corrupt Washington establishment to hear and heed the words that we, all, not me, we have to say. When we win on November 8, we are going to Washington DC and we are going to drain the swamp,” he stressed.

Whereas the ABC news/ Washington post poll put Hillary ahead with 46%, a New York Times Upshot/Sienna poll put Trump in the lead 46% to 42% in the state of Florida.

CNN’s Poll of Polls which averages results for the five most recently released national surveys however still has Hillary Clinto in the lead with a 47% to 42% advantage over Trump.
