Nigerian fashion designers are bringing plus sized models to the limelight in a fashion show organised in Lagos.
Organised by five popular Nigerian designers, the event helps in boosting the morale of plus sized models who sometimes feel inferiority complex because of so much attention on skinny models.
According to some models, showcasing curves on the runway is an exciting adventure especially when pretty models of different sizes and heights walk the runway.
“We love fashion, I love fashion. People think we are not suppose to love fashion but that’s not true. Fashion is an expression of who you are , what you love and what you believe and I have every right just as everyone else to express that,” one of the designers said.
This fashion show is proof that what we may consider not good enough might not really be what we think. It also shows that beauty is not limited to being skinny.
“The movement of rounds is as an encouragement to say to women that you are beautiful, you have beautiful forms and people must accept you as well,“another designer added.
Spectators left the scene happy about what they saw.
For the plus sized models who strutted their stuff, it was a wonderful moment as they were given an opportunity to express who they are as well as what they love and believe.
