The Union for Democracy and Social Progress in the DRC says its Deputy Secretary General, Bruno Tshibala has been arrested.
According to the opposition political party, Bruno Tshibala, was detained at the airport in Kinshasa on Sunday.
“His passport was confiscated and he was taken to an unknown destination”.
National secretary of the party responsible for Communication, Augustin Kabuya, said Tshibala was arrested while he was leaving for Brussels.
According to sources, his name appears on a list of a dozen leaders of the opposition sent by the Attorney General of the DRC to the immigration service with orders to arrest them if tried to leave the country.
The Democratic Republic of Congo is facing deep political crisis as tension mounts over the possibility of President Joseph Kabila running for a third term in office after his constitutional mandate expires in November.
