USA

About 20 people have been killed and at least 42 injured after a shooting at a gay nightclub in Orlando, Florida, police say.

Orlando Police said about 11 officers entered the Pulse night Club about three hours after the shooting unfolded and killed the attacker, who had taken hostages.

The shooting they say can be classified as an act of domestic terrorism.

The violence reportedly broke out before 2.am local time when the club is said to have been about to close.

Video footage being shared on social media appears to show several wounded people being treated and dozens of emergency vehicles at the scene.

Mass Shooting Tracker indicates, the US last year suffered 372 mass shootings, defined as a single incident that kills or injures four or more people. Some 475 people were killed and 1,870 wounded.
