Uganda
The Ugandan government and its football association are at loggerheads.
The misunderstanding came after the government gave an ultimatum for Uganda’s football body to register as a trustee or risk being banned.
The Uganda Football Association has up till the end of June to abide by the requirements but has refused to submit citing a possible FIFA ban.
While Uganda’s sports minister argues that all national federations are supposed to be governed by Ugandan laws, the football federation vice president says registering as a trustee is against the FIFA statutes.
Uganda’s football body believes registering as a trustee will give the sports ministry powers to throw out elected football federation officials.
Federation officials have communicated the government request to FIFA and are still waiting for a response.
