S. Africa and China navy in mutual operational skills boost

Cooperation

South Africa and China navies are in a four-day joint task to boost their operational skills. The Chinese People’s Liberation Army Navy (PLAN) docked at naval base at Simon’s Town

During the visit, the Chinese navy will conduct friendly exchanges with the South Africa Navy, including mutual visits and an open day for public visit. After the port call, the task force will conduct joint exercise with the South Africa Navy in South Africa’s coastal waters.

Although the naval visit is not directly linked to commerce, it could well be a precursor to future opportunities.

The visit is seen as an opportunity for both navies to learn from each other as it will promote friendship and common development of the two navies.
