Local media sources are also reporting that there were other casualties who sustained injuries in the accident.

The Ahmadou Ahidjo stadium was under rehabilitation ahead of November’s female AFCON to be hosted by Cameroon.

Recently, Prime Minister Philemon Yang visited the stadium to mount pressure on contractors for prompt completion of the job in time for the competition.

Africanews correspondent, Joel Honoré Kouam, confirmed that ‘‘it is a part of the stadium under construction that collapsed,’‘ adding that details were still sketchy on the number of people injured as, ‘’…nobody wants to speak about the case for now.’‘
