CAF Champions League: Wydad eliminate title-holders TP Mazembe

Democratic Republic Of Congo

Title-holders TP Mazembe crashed out of the CAF Champions League on Wednesday after drawing 1-1 at home with Wydad Casablanca of Morocco.

The Moroccans, led by former Real Madrid boss John Toshack, scored late in DR Congo to earn a second-leg 1-1 draw.

The result, coupled with a 2-0 last 16 first leg loss in North Africa, meant the five-time champions lost 3-1 on aggregate and were demoted to the CAF Confederation Cup.

Meanwhile, the tie between Enyimba and Etoile du Sahel went to penalties, with the Nigerian side going through.
