New COP21 President Ségolène Royal arrived in Egypt on Tuesday beginning a tour of Africa.
The French Environment Minister will hold talks with President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi, who is the coordinator of the Committee of African Heads of State and Government on Climate Change.
Royal will also meet with the country’s environment minister and foreign affairs minister.
“Africa is one of the most affected continents by global warming and uses the least amounts of fossil fuels and therefore, if the international community agreed to the Paris Summit agreement, they should act and it will be good for the African continent to do so too,” she said.
She is expected to visit Ethiopia, Ivory Coast, Guinea and Senegal in an effort to support renewable energy projects on the continent.
