The home of General Jean-Marie Mokoko, a presidential candidate and challenger of Denis Sassou Nguesso in the March 20 presidential election has been surrounded by security forces.
Africanews sources in Brazzaville indicate he is still free although his arrest is imminent.
The State Prosecutor declared on public television on Friday that he has ordered that the General should be arrested for ‘questioning’ and ‘cross examination’.
In a letter addressed to the Directorate of Domestic Services, General Jean-Marie Mokoko said he will not honour the convocation citing diplomatic immunity and his rank which requires that he can only be grilled by the gendarmerie and not the police.
For over a week now a video has been circulating on social networks showing two white interlocutors and General Mokoko allegedly strategizing to overthrow Denis Sassou Nguesso.
