Tunisian telecom regulator sanctions Orange

Tunisian telecom regulator sanctions Orange

Tunisia

Tunisian National Telecommunication Regulator (INT) has sanctioned Orange Tunisie over illegal business practice. The regulator revealed this in a release published on its website.

INT’s administration had met on January 27, 2016, to discuss the fate of the telecom company after failing to respect laws and regulation related to the displaying of commercial tariffs to the public. The infringement concerns the “3jab” offer. According to INT, the tariffs for the 3jab service are not clear and readable on all the written adverts and audiovisual spots as requested by law.

The telecom regulator demanded the removal of the offer from all advert spots. Orange Tunisie was also imposed a fine of TD183.715,906 (around $90,920) representing 0.05 percent of its turnover in 2014.

In April 2015, Orange Tunisie was fined DT29,978.809 (around $14.836), 0.01 percent of its 2013 turnover.

The regulator had warned other operators on January 7, 2016 to stop all illegal practice related to the display of tariffs of commercial offers to the public.
