At least 60 people have been killed in a double suicide bomb attack, carried out by two women in a camp for people displaced by Boko Haram attacks in the north-east of Nigeria, on Tuesday.
The Head of Emergency Services in Borno State, told AFP “we have counted 35 dead bodies and 78 injured.
The camp for displaced people in Dikwa, is about 90 kilometers west of the capital of Borno, Maiduguri.
“From what we know, three suicide bombers arrived in the camp at 6:30 local time (5:30 GMT),” the official said.
“Two triggered their explosives. but the third refused (to detonate hers) when she realized that her parents and her siblings were in the camp.She then reported to the authorities,” the official added.
She warned the military of planned attacks in the region. The injured were taken to two hospitals in Maiduguri for treatment.
