76 rescued after South Africa mine collapse

South Africa

76 miners have been rescued after a gold mine collapsed in the Mpumalanga province in north eastern South Africa.

3 other miners are still unaccounted for as rescue operations continue.

A statement from the spokesman of the Association of mine workers and construction union says the cause of the disaster is still unknown.

South Africa’s mines are considered the deepest and most dangerous in the world.

77 mine workers died last year in similar incidents.
