The advertisement of firearms between private individuals has been banned by social media giant Facebook.
The network said on Friday the goal is to prevent vendors that do not have a license to use the online platform to sell guns.
The Facebook control measure comes as the United States are crossed by a debate on the need to legislate on firearms.
475 people were killed by a shot targeting the crowd in the country in 2015.
The decision of Facebook seems to echo more questions from US domestic policy. But it could have consequences in other parts of the world.
The social network boasts 120 million active users in Africa. A continent that faces several armed conflicts.
