Preparations for the 8th edition of the Francophone games are underway in Ivory Coast.
The West African country unveiled the mascot for the 2017 games in pomp and colour on Wednesday in the Palace of Culture in the country’s capital Abidjan.
The mascot named Faro will parade during the opening ceremony of the games that will be held next year from July 21st to the 30th.
Derived from the Malinke ethnic group in the West African country, the name Faro is often associated with one who is self obsessed
The palace was house full with attendance from a number of dignitaries in anticipation of the games.
The sports and arts event held once every four years celebrates the youth through sports and culture as well as promote new artistic talents.
The event will be graced with more than 4000 young artists and athletes from 80 francophone nations.
