Six Boko Haram hostages freed

Six truck drivers , who were captured by Boko Haram in June last year have been freed. A joint operation by the Cameroon and Nigerian army rescued the men, earlier this month.

The hostages who were kidnapped near the town of Dabanga in the far north , along the Nigerian border have been in captivity for seven months.

They took advantage of the confusion caused by the bombing of camerouno-Nigerian forces in the city of Gabaru to Nigeria to take off.

“Following a joint operation by the Nigerian and Cameroonian armed, there was total chaos. So we fled and was later rescued by Cameroonian soldiers.” Mathurin Wokam, a rescued hostage said

“We were forced to convert to Islam, we have suffered unspeakable violence.“he added.
