Former Ivorian skipper Didier Drogba may not be returning to Chelsea anytime soon.
The 37-year-old player and former Blues striker was expected to return to his former English side having held talks with Chelsea in December on a possible return to the club.
There were reports he would join Chelsea’s coaching staff.
But Drogba, in an interesting twist tweeted on Monday: “On my way to Qatar to do some preparation work for pre-season,” an indication he will remain with Montreal Impact.
As at December last year, Chelsea were in talks with Montreal Impact over the future of Drogba who signed for Montreal in July.
The Ivorian spent nine years at Stamford Bridge in two spells, first representing the club between 2004 and 2012 before rejoining them last season.
Montreal said it was agreed in Drogba’s contract that he would have a second season in Canada.
