At least 21 people were killed and several others injured after gunmen stormed Bachar Khan University in northwestern Pakistan early Wednesday
Witnesses said they heard two explosions in the institution as the gunmen stormed into the campus.
Pakistan Taliban claimed responsibility for the attack.
Most of the students were rescued before police quelled the attackers.
Local media have reported that a chemistry professor is also feared to be among the dead.
The university teaches over 3,000 students and was hosting an additional 600 visitors for a poetry recital.
