British murder suspect arrested in Ghana

Police in Ghana have arrested the partner of British actress, Sian Blake whose body was found in the garden of her London home this week along with their two sons.

Arthur Simpson- Kent, 48,who was nabbed in Takoradi in the western region, is wanted for the murder of his girlfriend,a former EastEnders actress, their children Zachary, 8, and Amon,4.

He arrived in Ghana on December, 19, 2015, three days after police questioned him on the disappearance of his family.

Sian was last seen by her family when she visited them with the boys on December 13, 2015.

UK Police found the bodies buried in Blake’s backyard in Erith, south-east London. Post-mortem report indicates the three died as a result of head and neck injuries.

The Government of Ghana confirmed the arrest in a statement signed by the Minister for Communications, Dr. Edward Omane Boamah. He said Ghana’s security and intelligence agencies had no prior notification from their British counterparts on his arrival in Ghana, but managed to track his movements and arrested him today in Busua near Takoradi when the matter was brought to their attention.

A spokesman for the Metropolitan police said: “Detectives have today, Saturday 9 January, been made aware of an arrest in Ghana. We are currently working alongside the Ghanaian authorities but are not in a position to discuss further at this time”.
