Cairo: Gunmen open fire on Israeli tourists

Egypt

Gunmen have attacked Israeli tourists as they boarded a bus in Cairo on Thursday. Security sources confirm there were no casualties.

A press statement released by Egypt’s Interior Ministry said the attacks seemed to have been directed at the security forces.

The shooting took place at the Three Pyramids Hotel, on a road leading to the Giza pyramids southwest of Cairo.

Two gunmen were arrested by security forces during the attack.

So far there has been no claim of responsibility for the attack.

Egypt has suffered a great blow in its tourism industry from the continued attacks on tourists which have resulted in the loss of more than five billion US dollars in 2015.

The north African nation has witnessed a series of attacks from Jihadists who have claimed the lives of numerous soldiers and police since the ousting of Islamist president Mohamed Mursi in 2013 during the Arab spring.
