Africanews, the new and most authoritative Pan-African news channel launched its website, on Monday, from its temporary headquarters in Pointe-Noire, in Congo-Brazaville.
The digital platform can easily be accessed by all internet users and also on smartphones and tablets. The website has stories in both English and French Languages. Readers will also have the opportunity to watch the famous ‘no comment’ from its sister station,Euronews.

“This is like an expectant woman who had to be taken care of amid the mystery surrounding the gender of the child for months. So today we discover who this child is,its just came out of the bowel of Africa and hopefully it will soar higher than its parents.” said Mame Campbell Toure, Bureau Chief of Africanews

The Chief Executive Officer of Euronews launched the channel at DISCOP, the largest audiovisual continental content market in Johannesburg in November 2015.
“In Africa , there are few stories available outside major agencies such as AP, AFP and Reuters. Once we have collected enough, the channel will kick out. The date will be between late January and early March. Then in March or April, we will launch a radio and we will expand our presence in platforms like YouTube.” said Micheal Peters
Available in English and in French at Africanews, the channel will be distributed by SES satellites 4 and 5 , allowing it to reach 235 million people, or about 25 % of the population within Sahara. Portuguese and Swahili are expected to be added in the near future.
