Cosby's bail set for a million dollars after sexual assault charge

USA

After a sexual assault charge against American comedian and actor, Bill Cosby, his bail has been set for one million dollars.

The comedian did not enter a plea on Wednesday after the charges were brought against him and a preliminary hearing has been set for January 14.

Bill Cosby was charged with drugging and sexually assaulting a woman at his home 12 years ago.

A former Temple University employer, Andrea Constant, told police the comedian violated her at his home near Philadelphia.

The Montgomery County prosecutor, Kevin Steele, on Wednesday announced that Cosby had been charged with indecent assault accusing him of plying Andrea Constant with pills and wine, and penetrating her with his fingers without her consent while she was unconscious.

Steele said Cosby has admitted giving quaaludes to women he wanted to have sex with. The TV comedian testified under oath that he had sexual contact with Constant a decade ago but said it was consensual.

If found guilty for aggravated indecent assault as charged, Cosby will spend five to ten years behind bars and a $25,000 fine.
