Libya
Dozens of home-sewn Libyan dresses, traditional regalia and and copper objects can be seen on display stands in the heart of Tripoli.
For several days these Libyan artisans and goldsmiths gathered for an international exhibition to showcase their art. The wedding dresses sections is one of those that stand out. Here dresses with a wide variety of colors and styles, and used at different times of the marriage are displayed, as explained by the exhibitor.
“This is a traditional Libyan dress that women wear on their wedding day, and its not just one style, there are several. One for example is for the henna day , and another for the wedding day, “ says Zahra Ibrahim.
Riding accessories such as saddles and a section dedicated to Tunisian pottery makes for another attraction in this exhibition.
This expo is sponsored by Libya’s Ministry of Economy based in Tripoli, and the organizers say that it’s only aim is to promote and encourage the export of Libyan handicrafts.
