Juergen Klopp: Engineering a new Liverpool

Juergen Klopp: Engineering a new Liverpool

United Kingdom

Liverpool will pay a visit to Sunderland in the Barclays Premier League with Christian Benteke eager to build on his impressive form after securing them a win against high-flyers Leicester City last week.

The in-form Benteke netted the only goal of the game at Anfield on Boxing Day to deal Leicester their first league blow since September.

Manager Juergen Klopp says he is looking for something more than what they had against Leceister.

“After Watford it was clear what we had to do,” said Klopp. “It was really clear because we had these problems against West Brom, Crystal Palace, Watford and we had these problems not against Leicester because we reacted.

“That is what is really good, really satisfied with. And now we have to play against Sunderland and we don’t want to go there to show how football ‘should be’. We go there and want to win, that’s the only reason we travel there.”

The German took over the reigns of the club in October. He has made his points about stability well known.

“No doubt about the individual quality of the players, there’s no doubt about their character so what we have to create is a stable level of performance that we can really go with.

“For this we need all the players, and our next station is Sunderland and we have to go there and be concentrated from the first second as we were against Leicester. It was a really good start in the game and I was happy about this, and now we have to do it again.”
